SBBS can provide you with routed Public IP Addresses on your modem for a monthly cost. This will allow you to remotely manage your router and support applications that require this to work such as CCTV, SCADA etc. A subnet of 4 IP addresses (giving 1 fixed Public IP Address) costs 7.50 per month. A Subnet of 8 IP Addresses costs 14.40 per month.

Business Continuity Services: Up to 15Mbps down link and up to 2.5Mbps up link

Business Continuity Services are geographically independent Internet back up link services for Low, Medium and High Risk requirements. This service provides back up access to the Internet if the main terrestrial Internet link fails. It provides 1, 4 or 10GByte per calendar month.

If more than the contracted GByte(s) are used in the month, a charge of 9 per excess GByte or part GByte used over the satellite link is made.

The level chosen should reflect the risk that the service will be required

Switching to Simply Balanced
  • Are you stuck with a low speed satellite service?
  • Can you only increase your broadband speed by paying much more?
  • Are you fed up of your broadband service being throttled?
  • Are you looking for excellent customer support?
If you have Hughes Ka-band equipment on an Avanti based service (either directly with Avanti or with another of their partners) and you are on a rolling monthly contract, then you are free to change your satellite internet provider. At Simply Balanced we believe we offer our customers much better value than others operating on the Avanti network.

Switching your satellite internet provider is your right and easy to do. All you need to do is check that you are not on a long term contract with your current supplier. If not then you can send your current provider an email stating that you are giving notice to end your contract and that you will be switching your service. In most cases the notice period is 30 days or one month.

Send Simply Balanced a copy of this email with a covering email stating that you wish to switch to Simply Balanced. We will sort out the rest. It most likely that we can transfer your service to us remotely without needing to visit your house or business. If you do wish us to visit to check your dish pointing and cables please contact us.

Avanti pricing notes:
  1. Residential FUP and VBB:
The FUP (Fair Use Policy) operates by starting to gradually reduce the maximum up to data rate on your service once you have exceeded the number of GBytes in a month until you reach your service data volume limit. When you reach your service data volume limit your service is redirected to the portal web page. You have the option of purchasing GByte Boosters to reset your service to full maximum up to data rates (15Mbps down 2.5Mbps up). RESIDENTIAL GByte Boosters cost 7.20 per GByte and if you purchase 10 or more in one go you get 10% discount.

VBB (Volume Based Billing) is an alternative service scheme where no FUP is applied, however if you exceed your data volume limit in any month then you are automatically charged for any excess GBytes used (or part GByte) at 7.20/GByte. As no FUP applies the base service cost is higher.

Subscribers can add the Night Unlimited option to all Residential services for 7.20 per month. The Night Unlimited option allows all data volume used between 00:00 hours and 7:00 hours GMT not to be counted towards the service data volume limit. Note the timings are GMT so you do need to make allowances for clocks going forward during the summer months. Please note that this option is unavailable if the account has exceeded the Fair Use Policy

Please see the Residential Fair Access Policies for further details.

  2. Professional FUP and VBB:
The FUP operates by starting to gradually reduce the maximum up to data rate on your service once you have exceeded the number of GBytes in a month until you reach your service data volume limit. When you reach your service data volume limit your service is redirected to the portal web page. You have the option of purchasing GByte Boosters to reset your service to full maximum up to data rates (15Mbps down 2.5Mbps up). ProGByte Boosters cost 9 per GByte and if you purchase 10 or more in one go you get 10% discount.

VBB is an alternative service scheme where no FUP is applied, however if you exceed your data volume limit in any month then you are automatically charged for any excess GBytes used (or part GByte) at 9/GByte. As no FUP applies the base service cost is higher.

Unlimited Night Use Option (00.00 – 07.00 GMT), included as standard. Please note that this option is unavailable if the account has exceeded the Fair Use Policy

Fair Usage Policy - Please see the Professional Fair Usage Policies for further details

Note Professional Services run at higher priority than Residential Services so cost reflects this.

  3. Business Continuity is where you use a satellite link to back up your normal terrestrial Internet access to ensure that you continue with service if the terrestrial link fails. You will need a router with fail over feature and two WAN ports.
  4. Please note that "Installed for" prices exclude return mileage at 0.45/mile. Please see note 8. Travel expenses in General notes below.
  5. Boosters are applied on request to top up services that have been throttled for exceeding the service data allowance. We will endeavour to apply the booster as quickly as possible within one working day. Please note that at weekends and public holidays there may be a delay until the next working day.
  6. There is no charge for upgrading to a higher package; your monthly fee will be adjusted pro rata to accommodate the change. Should you decide to downgrade to a lesser package in the future there will be a one of fee equivalent to a one month fee at the higher rate in addition to the lower service charge fees. This charge is levied on us by the wholesaler and we have to pass it on to our clients.

General notes:

1. This a budget quotation. Whilst we make all attempts to display up to date information prices are subject to change at short notice. Prices shown are what you pay
3. If installation varies from standard additional charges may apply. The engineer will confirm this prior to installation.
4. Hire charges are payable in advance. Additional charges for excess bandwidth, or changes to scope by hirer are due within 14 days of invoicing.
5. Purchases: A minimum 12 months contract applies. Initial payment to include hardware and installation to be paid at time of ordering. All subsequent payments to be made by standing order.
6. A site survey is essential to determine which satellites can be seen from the premises, possible obstructions, and the best location for the antenna and the type of mounting to be employed. Site surveys are payable in advance.
7. To comply with service provider conditions installation of the satellite equipment must be carried out by a Certified Installer. Re-use of existing satellite equipment is not permitted.
8. Travel expenses are based on a return journey between our base in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire and the customer premises. We use Google Maps to calculate the shortest car journey. Ferry fares, tolls etc will be charged at cost.
9. We will charge for overnight accommodation and subsistence at cost where significant travel is required by the engineer.
10. Full Terms and Conditions are available on our web site

Please be advised that:

1. The headline speeds quoted will be subject to factors such as package chosen, weather, contention ratios, peak activity times and network issues etc that can impact on the speeds quoted.
2. The quality of VoIP telephony can vary and will be subject to factors such as package chosen, weather, contention ratios, peak activity times and network issues etc that can impact on the sound quality.
3. Because of the distances involved communications over satellite links are not instantaneous. There will be a noticeable delay in the response of online applications and speech. These delays, known as "Latency", can be affected by a number of factors and can impact on the quality of the data or speech.
